The Providence Pioneers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Flintridge Sacred Heart Tologs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Providence is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Fairfax. Providence blew past Fairfax 21-2 on Friday.
Madelynn Watts was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Watts was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Evangelina Aleman and Delailah Lopez did most of the damage at the plate: Aleman went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Lopez went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave Lopez a new career-high. Gloria Galindo was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Providence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfax only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Flintridge Sacred Heart entered their tilt with Rio Hondo Prep on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Kares by a score of 6-1.
Ruby Daniels spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Flintridge Sacred Heart let Ava Nawrocki and Siena Gundersen run wild. Nawrocki scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Gundersen scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ena Ramsey, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Providence skirted past Flintridge Sacred Heart 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Does Providence have another victory up their sleeve, or will Flintridge Sacred Heart turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
