Preview: Marietta Blue Devils vs. Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs
Marietta has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marietta will be strutting in after a win while Kennesaw Mountain will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Woodstock scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, Marietta still came out on top. Marietta secured a 71-65 W over Woodstock. Given Marietta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Woodstock is ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marietta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyann Senior, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Senior has scored at least 25% of Marietta's points. Kayla Day was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kennesaw Mountain's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 50-15 loss at the hands of Chattahoochee.
Marietta is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they have yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 1-10 record.
Everything came up roses for Marietta against Kennesaw Mountain in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 as the team secured a 53-21 win. Does Marietta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kennesaw Mountain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
