Baseball Recap: Hudson's Bay Takes a Loss

Hudson's Bay fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Evergreen on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainsmen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Plainsmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.

Cam Nicklas was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Juda Bendin was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Hudson's Bay has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Evergreen, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-8.

Coming up, Hudson's Bay will face off against Washougal at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Evergreen, they will host Franklin Pierce at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Plainsmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
