Baseball Recap: Saint Ignatius College Prep Takes a Loss

After flying high against Chicago University on Friday, Saint Ignatius College Prep came back down to earth. The Wolfpack came up short against the Brother Rice Crusaders on Monday, falling 18-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolfpack of the 8-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Jacob Jelinek was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Saint Ignatius College Prep: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mick Crowley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Saint Ignatius College Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Brother Rice, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-1.
