Burney posted their closest win since April 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Los Molinos Bulldogs. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Mia Perez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Perez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Alyssa Hawkins was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Burney's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Los Molinos, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-2-1.

Burney and Los Molinos should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Raiders (ranked 479th) will meet Redding Christian (ranked 1106th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Los Molinos will square off against Chester at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (313 vs. 666).
