Baseball Game Preview: Kerman Lions vs. Immanuel Eagles

The Kerman Lions will square off against the Immanuel Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Immanuel took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Kerman, who comes in off a win.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Kerman and Central Valley Christian have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Cavaliers 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.

Giovanni Gastelum made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Daniel Lanfranco was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Immanuel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to Sierra Pacific.

Kerman's victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1. As for Immanuel, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Kerman took their win against Immanuel in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
