Softball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. St. Francis Spartans

The Russell Red Devils will challenge the St. Francis Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Russell has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Russell came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-5 to Highlands.

Karson Honaker was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Bella Hall was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, St. Francis had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They beat the Wolves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

St. Francis' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Russell, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
