Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Overton Mustangs

Carlisle is 2-8 against Overton since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Carlisle Indians will welcome the Overton Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Carlisle has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Carlisle is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 18-0 to Harleton.

Meanwhile, Overton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 15-14 W against the Yellowjackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since April 23, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Chelsea Jordan, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Fenter, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Jordan wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Overton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Carlisle's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Overton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8-1.

Carlisle might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Overton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Carlisle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
