Kenston Forest's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Amelia Academy as Kenston Forest made off with a 15-0 victory. The Kavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Brooklyn Thomas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Addie McDaniel (2025) and Hayden Hudson (2029) did most of the damage at the plate: McDaniel (2025) went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs, while Hudson (2029) scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ruth Anne Torres (2026), who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.
Kenston Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association faced Brunswick Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association came up short against Brunswick Academy, falling 10-2. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madison Machotka made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Stowell, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Kenston Forest, their record is now 9-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kenston Forest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kenston Forest beat Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association 8-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenston Forest since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
