Basketball Game Preview: Ridgewood Generals vs. Hiland Hawks

Ridgewood is 0-10 against Hiland since February of 2020 but things could change on Saturday. The Ridgewood Generals will take on the Hiland Hawks in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.

Ridgewood will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Claymont, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Ridgewood was the clear victor by a 61-35 margin over Claymont on Wednesday. Given the Generals' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Mustangs are ranked 510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hiland waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They breezed by the Cardinals to the tune of 69-28. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

The victory was the third in a row for Ridgewood, bringing their record for this year to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Hiland, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Ridgewood took a serious blow against Hiland in their previous meeting back in January, falling 68-18. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ridgewood was down 34-11.
