Basketball Game Preview: Round Rock Dragons vs. Stony Point Tigers

Round Rock is 2-8 against Stony Point since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Round Rock Dragons will face off against the Stony Point Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Round Rock took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past Round Rock Westwood with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. The win was all the more spectacular given the Dragons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Warriors are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Stony Point had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.6 points) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They blew past the Warriors 77-51. With the Tigers ahead 43-22 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Stony Point's victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-4. As for Round Rock, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.

Round Rock came up short against Stony Point when the teams last played back in January, falling 66-60. Can Round Rock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
