Football Game Preview: Rockport-Fulton Pirates vs. Hallettsville Brahmas

The Rockport-Fulton Pirates will take on the Hallettsville Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockport-Fulton has given up an average of 30 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Rockport-Fulton came up short against Calallen and fell 43-36. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jaxon Keown, who rushed for 118 yards on only ten carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. His longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Reid Snyder, who punched in two rushing scores.

Even if they lost, Rockport-Fulton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Wyatt Kalhoefer, George Solis, and Caleb Wilshire, who each picked up one sack apiece. Rockport-Fulton got some further help from Kalhoefer: he picked up a sack and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Hallettsville slipped by Jones 27-26 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Brahmas.

Rockport-Fulton now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hallettsville, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-3.

Rockport-Fulton beat Hallettsville 28-20 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Brahmas' Mycole Pegoda, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 111 yards and one TD on only nine passes.
