Basketball Recap: Kolby Morris Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kit Carson

Idalia won the last time they faced Kit Carson and things went their way on Saturday too. The Idalia Wolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Kit Carson Wildcats 55-52.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Idalia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kolby Morris, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. What's more, Morris also posted a 41% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabe Kechter, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

Idalia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Kit Carson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josiah Irwin, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Marriott, who posted 15 points.

Idalia's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Kit Carson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

When Idalia and Kit Carson next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Idalia will take on Haxtun and their three-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Kit Carson will try to stop McClave's four-game winning streak when the meet at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
