Softball Game Recap: Upper Lake Cougars vs. Cloverdale Eagles

Upper Lake extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-7 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Cloverdale Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Cloverdale, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

For Cloverdale's part, Charlotte Burchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ronni Hatcher, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Camryn Bird was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Upper Lake will head out on the road to take on Kelseyville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.71 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cloverdale, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Clear Lake at 4:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
