Volleyball Recap: Mccollum's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

McCollum lost against South San Antonio back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cowboys fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Brooke Romo paced McCollum's offense, picking up 13 kills. Romo got some help from Ariannah Soto and her 17 assists. Finally, Danielle Soliz and Johannah Fuentes kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

South San Antonio found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Ramirez, who had 33 digs and ten assists. Ramirez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Leylani Diaz, who had nine digs and two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, McCollum fell to 5-1. As for South San Antonio, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

McCollum has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Jay on the 16th. As for South San Antonio, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against East Central on the 16th.
