Basketball Recap: Fernandina Beach Skates Past Wolfson with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Fernandina Beach rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Wolfson Wolfpack, posting a 55-26 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Fernandina Beach to victory were Savina Wells and Amelia Arline. Wells almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds, while Arline went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points and six boards. Wells is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh White, who posted nine points.

Despite the defeat, Wolfson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayonna Watson had 12 points. Those 12 points gave Watson a new career-high.

Fernandina Beach's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Wolfson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Fernandina Beach will take on Bolles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bolles will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Fernandina Beach surely won't give up without a fight. Wolfson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
