Basketball Recap: Kaydn Mcatee and Walker Jones Secure Win for Delphi Community

Delphi Community won the last time they faced Sheridan and things went their way on Friday too. The Delphi Community Oracles managed a 63-58 victory over the Sheridan Blackhawks. The win was all the more spectacular given the Oracles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 145th).

Delphi Community was led to victory by Walker Jones and Kaydn McAtee. Jones went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while McAtee went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance also gave McAtee a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Weston Brown, who posted four points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Delphi Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Sheridan lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Devon Hamilton, who put up 14 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Trey Page was another key player, putting up 19 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Delphi Community and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Sheridan, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.

Delphi Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-48 win against Winamac on the 25th. Sheridan has also already played their next matchup, an 85-36 victory against Purdue Broad Ripple on the 25th.
