Football Game Preview: Davenport Wolves vs. Somerset Bulldogs

The Davenport Wolves will challenge the Somerset Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Davenport comes in on seven and Somerset on four.

Davenport's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 23-0 margin over Fredericksburg. Considering the Wolves have won six contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Barrett Fallon, who rushed for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last nine times he's played.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Davenport's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Miles Jones was the leader with two. Hayden Turner was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (1.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Ashton Mercer: he added nine points with three field goals and another two kicking extra points.

Meanwhile, Somerset didn't have too much trouble with Canyon Lake on Friday as they won 23-7.

Davenport's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Somerset, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Davenport against Somerset in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-14 win. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
