Softball Recap: Dundee Comes Up Short

If Dundee was feeling good fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Sand Creek last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings fell 6-3 to the Blissfield Royals on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 6-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lauren Doane was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Dundee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Marek, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI. Natalie Rath was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Dundee's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Blissfield, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Dundee will challenge St. Mary Catholic Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blissfield, they will square off against Sand Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
