Football Game Preview: Nation Ford Falcons vs. Clover Blue Eagles

The Nation Ford Falcons will head out to challenge the Clover Blue Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clover took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Nation Ford, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Nation Ford turned things around against Catawba Ridge on Friday. They walked away with a 41-34 win over the Copperheads. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Falcons were the better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nation Ford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kason Canupp, who threw for 283 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 108 yards on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing yards Canupp has posted since back in August. Malachi Drayton was another key player, gaining 118 total yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nation Ford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Clover's offense. They took a blow against Indian Land on Friday, falling 35-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Blue Eagles were not able to get on the board.

This is the second loss in a row for Clover and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Nation Ford, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.

Nation Ford took a serious blow against Clover when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 53-20. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
