The South Fork Bulldogs will challenge the Vero Beach Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Fork 3, Vero Beach 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
South Fork is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Centennial just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 6-3 to the Eagles.
South Fork got a good showing from Jackson Turull, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Turull has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, South Fork saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Dennis, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Vero Beach owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against Okeechobee by a score of 4-0. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Brahmans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Vero Beach also got a great performance from Cody Morgan as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Morgan has posted since back in April of 2024.
Vero Beach's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for South Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Fork has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vero Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
