Preview: Miller Grove Wolverines vs. Stephenson Jaguars
Miller Grove is 2-8 against Stephenson since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Miller Grove Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stephenson Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Miller Grove: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Stephenson has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Last Tuesday, Miller Grove came up short against Westminster and fell 41-33. Miller Grove has struggled against Westminster recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Miller Grove might have lost, but man, Arieyona Christion was a machine: she scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Christion has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamiya Moore, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Stephenson had to suffer through a rough 53-26 loss at the hands of Southwest DeKalb. While losing is never fun, Stephenson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Southwest DeKalb is ranked 72nd).
Miller Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Stephenson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10.
Miller Grove was dealt a bruising 50-16 loss at the hands of Stephenson in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Miller Grove was down 34-6.
