Basketball Recap: Chief Leschi Comes Up Short

Chief Leschi was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. 2025 welcomed they with a 65-44 loss courtesy of the North Beach Hyaks. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hyaks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

North Beach found their leader in sophomore JJ Eastman, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Eastman is now averaging an impressive 16.2 points per game. Noah Aquino was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Chief Leschi's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for North Beach, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Chief Leschi didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-24 loss against Neah Bay on the 6th. As for North Beach, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-47 defeat against Taholah on the 4th.
