Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for North Central

North Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Pettisville on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Blackbirds 11-2. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Blackbirds back in March, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Tyler Meyers made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, North Central let Alex St John and Briggs Fiser run wild. St John went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Fiser went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Fiser a new career-high. Masen Boles was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

North Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pettisville only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory was the third in a row for North Central, bringing their record up to 4-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Pettisville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
