Basketball Game Preview: Stuarts Draft Cougars vs. Staunton Storm

The Stuarts Draft Cougars and the Staunton Storm will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Stuarts Draft didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Waynesboro, but they still walked away with a 39-35 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Little Giants are ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Staunton entered their tilt with Buffalo Gap on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 win over the Bison.

Stuarts Draft's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Staunton, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-9.

Stuarts Draft came out on top in a nail-biter against Staunton when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 38-35. Will Stuarts Draft repeat their success, or does Staunton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
