Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Eagles vs. Pine Crest Panthers
The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Pine Crest. While losing is never fun, Calvary Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Pine Crest is ranked 179th).
Calvary Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Kanell, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Wakefield, who scored 12 points.
Calvary Christian Academy bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Pine Crest, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Calvary Christian Academy will be playing at home against Saint Andrew's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saint Andrew's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Pine Crest, they will head out on the road to challenge Spanish River at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
