Basketball Recap: Pike County Comes Up Short

Pike County lost against Morgan County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pike County Pirates took a blow against the Morgan County Bulldogs, falling 65-26. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 174th).

Despite the loss, Pike County had strong showings from Sadie Lewis, who posted eight points, and Kerrah Foster, who put up ten points. Lewis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Kymora Smith went supernova for Morgan County, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Cydney Burke, who had 18 points and seven rebounds.

Pike County is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. As for Morgan County, they pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Pike County has already played their next match, a 61-12 defeat against Callaway on the 3rd. As for Morgan County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-38 victory against Rutland on the 1st.
