Basketball Game Preview: Tarkington Longhorns vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

The Tarkington Longhorns are taking a road trip to take on the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tarkington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Tarkington is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Shepherd: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tarkington blew Shepherd out of the water with a 72-36 final score. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hamshire-Fannett had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 79-41 victory over the Pirates. The Longhorns pushed the score to 56-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirates had little chance of recovering from.

Hamshire-Fannett is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Tarkington, their win bumped their record up to 22-7.

Tarkington couldn't quite finish off Hamshire-Fannett in their previous meeting on January 3rd and fell 47-45. Can Tarkington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
