Softball Recap: Chenango Valley Find Success

While Chenango Valley's win against Owego Free Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the River Hawks 4-3. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the River Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Abby Cron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mackenzie Hubenthal was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Gibsyn Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Chenango Valley picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Owego Free Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.

Chenango Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the River Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
