Basketball Recap: Lick-Wilmerding Takes a Loss

If Lick-Wilmerding was feeling good fresh off their 74-37 takedown of Convent of the Sacred Heart last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lick-Wilmerding Tigers fell just short of the San Domenico Panthers by a score of 44-41 on Monday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Lick-Wilmerding still got an impressive performance from Hailey Moy, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Amaya Tavu, who posted ten points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lick-Wilmerding smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Lick-Wilmerding's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for San Domenico, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lick-Wilmerding beat San Domenico by a score of 59-51 on Wednesday.
