Softball Recap: Appleton North Comes Up Short

Appleton North suffered their closest defeat since April 10, 2025 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hortonville Polar Bears by a score of 3-1. The Lightning have struggled against the Polar Bears recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Appleton North's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Hortonville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Appleton North is set to take on their familiar foe Neenah at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lightning 2.9, the Rockets 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Hortonville will square off against rival Appleton West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
