Recap: Delta Panthers vs. Montrose Red Hawks
The Delta Panthers lost against the Montrose Red Hawks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Delta was dealt a 60-30 loss at the hands of Montrose. While losing is never fun, Delta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Montrose is ranked 45th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tucker Johnson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Erik Baier, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Kaleb Ferguson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Montrose, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Killen, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Delta and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for Montrose, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Delta won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Aspen at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Delta is coming into the contest with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Aspen will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Montrose, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Alamosa at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Montrose focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
