Basketball Game Preview: St. Ignatius Wildcats vs. Walsh Jesuit Warriors

St. Ignatius and Walsh Jesuit are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The St. Ignatius Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Walsh Jesuit Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Ignatius has three straight wins, Walsh Jesuit has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Sunday, St. Ignatius got the win against Archbishop Moeller by a conclusive 62-41. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Walsh Jesuit managed to keep up with Archbishop Hoban until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Walsh Jesuit came up short against Archbishop Hoban, falling 79-56. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Knights are ranked tenth).

St. Ignatius has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Walsh Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Everything came up roses for St. Ignatius against Walsh Jesuit in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 76-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Ignatius since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
