Baseball Recap: Chittenango Gets the Win

Chittenango's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Cazenovia Lakers. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Evan Tianello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eli Lefort was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Kielbasa, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

The win got Chittenango back to even at 3-3. As for Cazenovia, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chittenango will take on Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cazenovia, they will challenge Mexico at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
