Bay barely beat Lakewood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets blew past the Rangers, posting a 42-7 win. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 21 points or more this season.
Charlie Rodgers had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 58 receiving yards and two scores, while also rushing for 39 yards. Evan Taulbee was another key player, rushing for 92 yards on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Rocky River unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 35-27 to Buckeye. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Pirates, who until this matchup were averaging 13.56 points allowed.
Rocky River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tristin Hughes and Rowan Kennedy.
Bay's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.8 points on average over those games. As for Rocky River, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
Bay strolled past Rocky River in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Pirates' Oran Grieve, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Rockets to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
