Basketball Recap: Rapid City Central Comes Up Short

Rapid City Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Brandon Valley Lynx and fell 52-17. While losing is never fun, the Cobblers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Lynx are ranked seventh).

Alyvia Padgett was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 18 en route to 21 points for Brandon Valley. Padgett's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Ava Kellenberger was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points and six steals.

Rapid City Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Brandon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Rapid City Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-38 defeat against O'Gorman on the 8th. As for Brandon Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-30 win against Stevens on the 8th.
