Basketball Recap: Erwin Victorious

Erwin hadn't done well against Enka recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Erwin Warriors skirted past the Enka Jets 69-66. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 79-72 win the Jets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Despite the loss, Enka still got an impressive performance from Logan Trantham, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 38 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Trantham is becoming a predictor of Enka's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Hyatt Middleton, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Erwin's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Enka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Erwin will look to defend their home court on Friday against R-S Central at 7:30 p.m. Erwin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully R-S Central likes a good challenge. As for Enka, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 71-66 win against Smoky Mountain on the 19th.
