Basketball Game Preview: The Colony Cougars vs. Highland Park Scots

The Colony Cougars will face off against the Highland Park Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, The Colony didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Newman Smith, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Highland Park came tearing into Friday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 42-38 victory over the Wolverines. The win was all the more spectacular given the Scots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Wolverines are ranked 29th).

Highland Park pushed their record up to 19-11 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for The Colony, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.

The Colony suffered a grim 58-36 defeat to Highland Park in their previous matchup on January 3rd. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point The Colony was down 36-10.
