Football Game Preview: Putnam Valley Tigers vs. Bronxville Broncos

For the first time this season, Putnam Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to take on the Bronxville Broncos at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

If Bronxville heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Putnam Valley took over last week. The Tigers walked away with a 27-14 victory over Briarcliff/Hamilton on Friday.

Meanwhile, Bronxville made easy work of Pearl River on Friday and carried off a 41-21 win. Fans of the Broncos have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Putnam Valley better keep an eye on Brian Formato. He was instrumental in Bronxville's win, rushing for 200 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Formato is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 190 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo McMurray, who rushed for 58 yards and a pair of scores.

Bronxville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Putnam Valley's record now sits at 3-1. As for Bronxville, their record is now 3-0.

Putnam Valley couldn't quite finish off Bronxville when the teams last played back in October of 2021 and fell 2-0. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
