Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Naples Golden Eagles

The Bishop Verot Vikings will head out to take on the Naples Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Verot is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Bishop Verot is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2024 on Saturday. They put the hurt on Golden Gate with a sharp 74-51 win. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Titans are ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Verot's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gavin Williams, who went 9 for 12 en route to 25 points, and Austin Leslie, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 26 points and eight boards. Jerry Ashley was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Bishop Verot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They are 2-1 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Meanwhile, Naples didn't have quite enough to beat Evangelical Christian on Saturday and fell 55-53.

Naples' loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Bishop Verot, their record is now 14-8.

Bishop Verot was taken down by Naples 71-37 when the teams last played back in November of 2020. Thankfully for Bishop Verot, Devin Moore (who posted 28 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
