Briar Woods is 10-0 against Riverside since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Briar Woods Falcons will challenge the Riverside Ram at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Briar Woods took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed by Independence to the tune of 58-27. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Independence are ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Briar Woods' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brianna Zaher led the charge by putting up 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Stummer, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Briar Woods was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside). They came out on top against Independence by a score of 51-43 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Briar Woods pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Riverside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.

Briar Woods beat Riverside 40-27 in their previous matchup on January 13th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Briar Woods since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
