Basketball Preview: Putnam City Pirates vs. Owasso Rams
The Putnam City Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Owasso Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Putnam City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Rams are ranked 14th).
Last Friday, Putnam City took a serious blow against the Bulldogs, falling 83-39. Putnam City was down 66-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Owasso's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Edmond Memorial.
Putnam City's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Owasso, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season.
Putnam City was dealt a bruising 76-37 defeat at the hands of the Rams when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Putnam City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
