Baseball Game Preview: McDonald Blue Devils vs. Heartland Christian Lions

The McDonald Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Heartland Christian Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, McDonald came up short against McKinley and fell 8-3. The loss put an end to the Blue Devils' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Heartland Christian can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past David Anderson 14-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Christian Hamilton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Morgan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Paul Bender was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Heartland Christian's record now sits at 2-4. As for McDonald, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

McDonald couldn't quite get it done against Heartland Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 as they fell 6-1. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
