Softball Game Preview: GlenOak Golden Eagles vs. Lake Blue Streaks

The GlenOak Golden Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Lake Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

GlenOak is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Wadsworth on Saturday as they made off with a 22-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Meanwhile, Lake faced Green in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Blue Streaks put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-3 win. The Blue Streaks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Gianna Greathouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Eisele, who went 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Makenna Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in three consecutive contests.

GlenOak's record is now 12-6. As for Lake, their record now sits at 13-4.

GlenOak might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Lake in their previous meeting on April 1st. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
