After a string of three wins, Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Excelsior Springs Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Owen Foster was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Medina, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Pete Berry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Excelsior Springs, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Looking ahead, Central will square off against Kearney at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Excelsior Springs, they will challenge Oak Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
