Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Roncalli Royals
The Heritage Christian Eagles will be playing at home against the Roncalli Royals at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Heritage Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Heritage Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against Lapel on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 72-64 to the Bulldogs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (61), Heritage Christian still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Heritage Christian got some senior leadership from Cole Louden and Luke Peters. Louden dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Peters. dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Louden has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Schnippel, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Roncalli's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Southport by a score of 51-49. Roncalli has struggled against Southport recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Heritage Christian's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-6. As for Roncalli, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Heritage Christian beat Roncalli 50-43 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Heritage Christian repeat their success, or does Roncalli have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
