Basketball Game Preview: Saraland Spartans vs. Theodore Bobcats

Saraland hasn't had much luck against Theodore recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Saraland Spartans will welcome the Theodore Bobcats at 5:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Saraland came up short against Murphy and fell 43-33.

Despite their loss, Saraland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elle Roberts, who posted eight points and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Roberts is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sadie Knight, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, Theodore entered their tilt with Blount on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They pulled ahead with a 41-40 photo finish over the Leopards.

Theodore found their leader in freshman Parklyn Floyd, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Floyd has scored at least a third of Theodore's points.

Theodore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Saraland, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Saraland might still be hurting after the 50-25 loss they got from Theodore in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Saraland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
