Soccer Game Preview: Northwestern vs. Clover

The Northwestern Trojans will head out to face off against the Clover Blue Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwestern's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Northwestern is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Nation Ford on Wednesday. The Trojans came up short against the Falcons, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Northwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Nation Ford are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Clover kept a clean sheet against Fort Mill on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets. Clover haven't had any issues with Fort Mill recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Clover hit Fort Mill with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jonah Stovcsik, William Sykes, and Steven Gudeman.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Clover, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Northwestern suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Clover in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
