Baseball Recap: Suttons Bay Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Suttons Bay had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-14 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Buckley Bears. This was a revenge game for the Norsemen: when they faced off against the Bears on Tuesday, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Shane O'Boyle made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for Suttons Bay: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-13 otherwise. O'Boyle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Oskaboose, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Schichtel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Buckley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. Bears fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Suttons Bay since on Tuesday.

On Buckley's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Francisco, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Suttons Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buckley, they will head out to square off against Marion on Friday.
