Softball Recap: Palmetto's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Palmetto had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Manatee on Monday. The Palmetto Tigers blew past the Manatee Hurricanes 10-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the game before.

MaKenna Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caroline Craft, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Keleah Peters was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

The victory (which was Palmetto's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Manatee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Palmetto and Riverview Sarasota will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Manatee, they will take on North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manatee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
